At Moncado Springs, family fun has never been closer.  Only minutes away from Legoland (16min 7mi), The Flower Fields of Carlsbad (11min 9mi), and The Wave Waterpark (6min 2mi), the world-famous SeaWorld Amusement Park (39min 38mi) is also nearby, as are the San Diego Padres (40min 42mi).

Moviegoers will appreciate two nearby luxury theaters – Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas (7min 2mi) and Regal Cinemas (7min 4mi) – which feature wide, comfortable fully-reclining seats!

With freeway access to the 78 less than a mile away, Moncado Springs puts a world of shopping within easy reach.  For everyday needs you'll find a Costco (1min 0mi), Walmart (5min 2mi), and Target (7min 4mi) close to home.  For groceries there is an Albertson's (6min 2mi), a Von's (7min 4mi), and a Frazier Farms (7min 2mi), and for hardware there's a Home Depot (5min 1mi) and Lowes (6min 2mi).

Looking for that special something?  The Shoppes at Carlsbad (7min 3mi) is an indoor mall, and El Camino North (6min 4mi) is outdoor.  And let's not forget the many quaint little seaside shops and galleries of Oceanside, Carlsbad, and La Jolla.

Like swimming, snorkeling, running, or biking?  Surfing, sunbathing, fishing, boating, or sailing?  Then you'll love beautiful Carlsbad State Beach (11min 7mi), Oceanside's Harbor Beach (14min 9mi) and the Oceanside Pier (15min 8mi).

Want to work out?  LA Fitness (2min 1mi) and 24 Hour Fitness (6min 4mi) will keep you in great shape. 

Or for something more low-impact, take a quick hike or jog at nearby Calavera Lake (5min 1mi), or walk your dog at Buena Vista Dog Parks (12min 5mi), Alga Norte Community Park (18min 8mi), or the dog-friendly Del Mar Beaches (25min 21mi).

Great Golf

Golf lovers will be glad to hear that the area boasts two private golf clubs, El Camino Country Club (7min 4mi) and Shadowridge Golf Club (8min 5mi), and six public courses within a 10-mile radius, including Emerald Isle Golf (10min 6mi) and The Crossings at Carlsbad (14min 6mi).

Nothing is more important than your children's future.  In addition to Breeze Hill Elementary (5min-2mi), Madison Middle (4min 2mi), and Rancho Buena Vista High (7min-3mi) schools, there are numerous private schools to choose from, including The Classical Academy (9min 4mi), Tri-City Christian School (2min 0mi), and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School (5min 2mi).

Our Board

About The Board

The Board of Directors for Moncado Springs is a five-seat Board made up of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Director at Large.  Each officer is elected by the homeowners and serves a two-year term.

Officer Roles & Responsibilities

Wondering how our board works & what each board member does?  Below are the roles & responsibilities of each of the five types of officers that make up our board:

Board President

The Board President is the chief executive officer of the Board and shall have general supervision, direction and control of the business and officers. The President may, but need not, be the Chairman of the Board. The President shall have the general powers and duties of management.

Board Vice-President

In the absence or disability of the President, the Vice President shall perform all the duties of the President, and when so acting, shall have all the powers of, and be subject to all the restrictions upon, the office of President.


The Treasurer (CFO) shall keep and maintain, or cause to be kept and maintained adequate and correct accounts of the properties and business transactions.


The Secretary shall keep, or cause to be kept, a book of Minutes at the principal office or such other place as the Board may order, of all meetings and proceedings of the Board and its committees, with the time and place of the holding of same, whether regular or special meetings.


The Director at Large is a voting member of the Board with all the rights, duties and responsibilities and limitations of the other Board officers.

Our Committees

About Our Committees

We currently have six committees, of which three are active on a regular basis: the Landscape Committee, the Social Committee, and the Welcome Committee.

Landscape Committee

Attends monthly walk-through, which is scheduled for the third Thursday of every month at 9:30 a.m.  On the monthly walk-through, the Landscape Committee will walk various areas of the community on a rotating basis with the Landscape Maintenance Contractor and the Management Company.  On these walks areas that need attention to their landscape will be noted and ideas to correct the area will be discussed.

Social Committee

Plans and organizes the community-wide events for Moncado Springs. The Committee works under the direction of the Board of Directors and the management company.  Any events the Social Committee plans and organizes operates within a designated budget, established by the Board of Directors and management.

Architectural Committee

Completes fair and consistent aesthetic reviews of exterior improvement or modifications and ensures that improvements adhere to established guidelines.  Should review plans monthly, maintain from aesthetic standpoint only and provide sufficient information for any denied plan and what is required for the plan to be approved.  The Board of Directors currently is responsible to review submitted applications.

The Board of Directors has contracted Avalon Management Group to assist with the administration and operation of our homeowner's association.  Homeowners can access the Avalon Owner Portal here, or schedule an appointment to visit Avalon Management in Oceanside here.
